Short Mat Bowls club

Winter Draws on, The 2010/11 league season is under way and we are hoping to better our last year’s position in the league table.

Club attendances are up because our outdoor bowlers are back and we have a busy time ahead with trips out, A booze and bowls night and the boys v girls match. Six new members have joined over the summer.

Our thoughts and prayers are with John Carter and Jean Daniels who are both going through tough treatments at hospital. We wish them speedy recoveries.

We also lost a dear friend and keen player this year, Mr.Jack Chandler.

Last year we finished 6th in the East Kent League first division. Well done to both teams and all supporting members who stood in at a minute’s notice.
The club’s own competition winners are now on the honours board in the village hall.

NEW MEMBERS WANTED

We have a few vacancies for new members, any one out there in “Capel Land” who fancies giving this sport a try please contact one of the committee members below or just drop in on any club day or night.

Age is no barrier. 12 to 80 is the present range of our players. Past members warmly welcomed back.

If you would like to come and give the game a try just pop in at any club meeting. We meet every Tuesday 7.30pm to 9.30 pm, Wednesday 2.00pm to 4.00pm and Sundays 2.00pm to 4.00pm in The Village Hall.

For the more competitive we hold regular competitions, friendlies with other clubs and we also have teams in the East Kent League.

We have a social side too with regular trips out, fish and chip nights, a summer BBQ and our annual Christmas Dinner with a visit from Santa.

Membership for the coming year will be £15 per year and £1.50 per session ( inc. tea and biscuits )
