CAPEL-LE-FERNE PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
(Some of the items discussed 16th December and 20th January)
Neighbourhood Watch:
Some anti-social behaviour reported.
Accident figures for Winehouse Lane/New Dover Road area are being sought from Police to address speeding problems and the extension of the 40mph limit that is required.
New zig-zag extended line-marking outside school to be implemented soon, awaiting date of work.
Highways/Bridleways and Public Rights of Way:
Still waiting a date for commencement from contractors for work on installing the white gates project.
A new Bus Shelter, adjacent to White Cliffs Caravan Park to go ahead – further funding from other sources being sought.
Kent Highways to carry out the reinstatement of the bollards at the entrance to the playing field in the near future.
Other items:
Councillors attended a meeting at the Dover Neighbourhood Forum where various issues were discussed including items Dover District Council had spent money on and the Health facilities in Dover.
Credit Crunch good news – the Parish Councillors also discussed the draft budget for 2009/2010 and agreed the final parish precept of £13,500 – this was an increase of only £500 (less than 4% – and less than 50p per household). Items placed in the budget included an amount towards the new bus shelter and maintenance of St Mary’s Church Graveyard. St Mary’s Church Graveyard upkeep under further discussion with a final outcome agreed.
Recent power cuts discussed and reported that these seemed to be on the increase, although for no specific reason.
Re-routing of one of the Capel to Folkestone bus routes discussed and the Council would write to Stagecoach to request one of the services is diverted to the Canterbury Road area, to cover access to the doctors surgery and post office.
Full praise was given to District Councillor Frederick Scales on the new waste recycling collections.
Councillor Scales reported that Shepway and Dover District Council would continue to be independently run, although some services will be on a joint sharing system with other areas to save money.
The Parish Council still has a vacancy for a new councillor. If you think you may be interested please contact the Parish Clerk for further details as soon as possible.
