Annual Barbecue
On Friday, 2nd July, in the Church Hall Albany Road, we held our annual BBQ and the event was well supported by 43 of our members. The weather was good, apart from a quick shower that did not last long, so allowing Brian Waters to carry on and cook our very tasty burgers and sausages to perfection. These were accompanied by rolls & salad, and followed by some delicious sponges oozing with fresh cream. Brian was assisted by Diane Waters, Kath Rudman, and her friend, Get.

The meal was accompanied with wine and drinks that we brought with us. Our members were quite happy , sitting and chatting among friends. Finally the raffle arranged by Gerald Harman was drawn, and a very enjoyable evening was brought to a close.
Boules competition
On Saturday 26th June 2010, we were invited by Sandgate Twinning Association to an inter-Twinning Association Boules competition, at the Bell Inn, Hythe.
C.T.A.MEMBERS Joy, Ruby, & Shirley.
Nineteen of our members were pleased to take part, which turned into a very enjoyable fun day out. The day was very hot and sunny, and it was a pleasure to sit in the garden, where we played boules, (not taken too seriously) and chatted with the other members who were taking part. We had a very nice buffet lunch, and thoroughly enjoyed meeting members from the other Twinning Associations. We look forward to our future contact between other Twinning Associations.

Trip to France
On Wednesday 5th May 2010 we departed from Capel by coach to the Dover docks to catch the ferry for a trip across the channel to Calais. The crossing was very calm, as was the return journey.
Onward then, to St Omer, stopping on the way at a supermarket to do some shopping, then on to St Omer, where we found some very nice restaurants for our lunch.
A short journey after lunch took us to Arques for Arc crystal. The visit was very interesting, with a short video in English, then a tour around the factory, where we saw some of the amazing glass being manufactured.
A crystal trinket box was given to every member, such a lovely gift to have to remember our visit. We then looked around the shop at some of the lovely things that are made there, such beautiful things that we could not resist buying some.
The weather was kind to us, no rain, a little chilly in the shade, but quite a good sunny day. The day went quite smoothly, and we arrived back in Capel around 9pm. Everyone said that they had had a very enjoyable day.
Pity though, that we were unable to fill the coach, with 20 vacant seats, but many thanks to all our members who supported this lovely day out.
